You Can Now Buy the PinePhone Mobian Community Edition Linux Phone

PinePhone Mobian Edition

The recently unveiled PinePhone Mobian Community Edition is now available for pre-order in PINE64’s online store and you can buy it from only $149.99 USD.

As I reported a couple of days ago, PINE64, the makers of the PinePhone Linux phone and PineTab Linux tablet, partnered with the Mobian Project, an open source project offering a version of Debian GNU/Linux tailored for mobile devices, to offer the Linux community yet another PinePhone Community Edition.

PinePhone Mobian Community Edition is powered by Mobian Linux, which offers a pure Debian GNU/Linux experience on the Linux phone, and uses the Phosh (Phone Shell) user interface by default, which is based on the GNOME Stack and developed by Purism for their privacy-focused Librem 5 Linux smartphone.

PinePhone Mobian Community Edition is built from plastic and features the Debian logo on the back. It features a generous 5.95-inch HD IPS capacitive display with 16M colors, 1440×720 pixels resolution, and 18:9 ratio.

Under the hood, there’s an Allwinner A64 (sun50iw1) SoC that features a 64-bit Quad-Core Cortex-A53 ARM CPU running at 1.2 GHz and a Mali400 MP2 GPU. The device comes in two versions with 2GB or 3GB LPDDR3 SDRAM, as well as 16GB or 32GB eMMC internal storage that can be expanded to up to 2TB with a micro SD card.

Connectivity-wise, we can see support for worldwide LTE bands (LTE-FDD: B1/ B2/ B3/ B4/ B5/ B7/ B8/ B12/ B13/ B18/ B19/ B20/ B25/ B26/ B28, LTE-TDD: B38/ B39/ B40/ B41, WCDMA: B1/ B2/ B4/ B5/ B6/ B8/ B19, and GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz), single-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot, Bluetooth: 4.0 A2DP, and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.

The PinePhone Mobian Community Edition phone also features a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack with mic, a 5MP, 1/4″ main camera with LED flash, a 2MP, f/2.8, 1/5″ selfie camera, a removable Li-Po 2750-3000 mAh battery, and hardware kill switches for LTE (include GPS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, camera, and mic.

Without further ado, you can buy the PinePhone Mobian Community Edition with 2GB RAM for $149.99 USD from here or the Convergence Package (includes the 3GB RAM version and a USB-C dock) for $199.99 USD from here. PINE64 offers a 30-day warranty and all purchases will be shipped starting mid-February 2021.
