9to5Linux was founded by Marius Nestor in January 2020 as a technology blog covering latest GNU/Linux and Open Source news, as well as to keep everyone up to date with the latest software and distribution releases.
Marius Nestor is a freelance journalist and professional photographer who fell in love with GNU/Linux more than 20 years ago. He has been covering Linux and Open Source news for the past 15 years, testing hundreds of distributions and apps.
At 9to5Linux we provide breaking Linux and Open Source news, opinions, tutorials, and reviews. The main goal of this website is to provide the GNU/Linux community with a place where they can find all the freshest Linux and Open Source news and info about updates for their distributions and apps.
9to5Linux was born from the need to create an informational site for Linux users, to promote free and open source software (FOSS) and raise public awareness of the ecosystem. Most people are stuck with a proprietary operating system when they buy a new computer and have no idea that it can be freed with GNU/Linux and Open Source apps.
At 9to5Linux we don’t believe in paywalls. Right now, our only revenue is from ads. Therefore, we need your help to keep the website alive as long as possible. For that, please consider donating money or becoming a patron. Thank you!
