9to5Linux was founded by Marius Nestor in January 2020 as a technology blog covering latest GNU/Linux and Open Source news, as well as to keep everyone up-to-date with the latest software releases.
Marius Nestor is a freelance journalist and professional photographer who fell in love with GNU/Linux more than 20 years ago. He has been covering Linux and Open Source news for the past 15 years, testing hundreds of distributions and apps.
At 9to5Linux we provide breaking Linux and Open Source news, opinions, tutorials, and reviews. The main goal of this website is to provide the GNU/Linux community with a place where they can find all the freshest news and updates for their distributions.
9to5Linux was also born to promote free and open source software (FOSS) and raise public awareness of the ecosystem. Many people are stuck with a proprietary operating system when they buy a new computer and have no idea that it can be freed with Open Source apps and GNU/Linux.
At 9to5Linux we don’t believe in paywalls, nor adverts (except for Open Source projects). Therefore, we need your help to keep the website alive as long as possible. For that, please consider donating money or becoming a patron. Thank you!
